Robert Baxley began his career with Zaxby’s in 1992 as a cook at the company’s third location in Valdosta, Georgia. He moved quickly into leadership roles, becoming the company’s first VP of operations, where he helped establish many of the systems still in place today. When the company began franchising in 1994, Robert likes to say he “dropped the ‘K'” when he took on the role of COO. From 1995 to 2007, he also owned and operated 21 units throughout Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Robert is a living example of one of Zaxby’s core values, “Develop Talent,” and in turn has been a guiding force in the careers of many others. He credits his success-both personally and professionally to surrounding himself with talented people and focusing on faith and family. Originally from Camden, South Carolina, Robert attended the University of South Carolina and earned a bachelor’s degree in management from Valdosta State University. He married his college sweetheart, Mandy, and together they have two children, Wyman and Loy Brynne.
