Beth Solomon is Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Industry Relations at the International Franchise Association, leading the organization’s efforts on small business lending, VetFran, international, and multi-unit CEO initiatives.

IFA launched its Credit Access Campaign in 2011 to increase lending to the franchise industry with the Small Business Lending Summit in Washington, D.C. that attracted SBA Administrator Karen Mills, Senate Small Business Committee Chair Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and FDIC Chairman Martin Gruenberg. In 2012 the IFA created the Franchise Lending Accelerator, based at www.franchiseregistry.com, and the IFA BoeFly Franchise Lending Index which provides a monthly update on the volume of lending to the franchise sector.

Also in 2011, the IFA expanded its veterans transition program, VetFran, with Operation Enduring Opportunity, an industry-wide campaign to hire as team members and recruit as franchise business owners 75,000 veterans and military spouses, plus 5,000 wounded warriors. Since that time, membership in the VetFran program has increased to over 500 members, growing over 37% in one year, and more than 15,000 veterans have started careers in franchising since 2011, including 4,200 new franchise business owners.

Additionally, multi-unit CEOs have become increasingly significant in the growth of the franchise industry. A renewed effort will be launched in late 2012 to attract these valued industry leaders to increased engagement in IFA.
